In the late 1980s, my wife and I bought a '56 T-Bird. It was far from show quality
but it was a whole lot of fun to own and drive. After nine years we decided we needed a ride that would offer more comfort and be easier for us to get into and out of with our aging bones. The '56 was not the greatest ride on out of state trips to various car shows so we decided on a '66 convertible.

When we bought this car, restoration had been started and we finished it. I liked this particular car because it had nearly all available factory options. Today, I would opt for a car with no options: less options, less things to get forty years old. We had it painted red but only because I always felt convertibles should be red. A new white top and a white interior finished the car the way we wanted it. We added a tonneau cover, continental kit, five spooked wheels, twin spotlights, and the electronic top controls, deck controls and ignition
.
Today, we are able to enjoy long trips with this Bird. It may not be a concourse restoration but it definitely is an eye catcher.
